    My research interest are Synthesis and characterization of natural activated carbon; waste water treatment and water purification; extraction and isolation of natural compounds;theoretical and experimental aspects of spectroscopic and reaction dynamics.
  1. Natural activated carbon and its application for environmental remediation. Synthesis a novel biomass-based activated carbon from natural plant materials and to investigate its effectiveness in the removal of heavy metal and toxic compounds from aqueous solution. The synthesised activated carbon was characterised by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and different physical properties, such as bulk density, particle size, zeta potential and activated surface area were also determined. Batch sorption study were carried out for the removal of heavy metal and toxic compounds. Investigate the factors that influence the amount of sorption, such as solution pH, concentration of heavy metal and toxic compounds, contact time, temperature and dosage of adsorbent.
  2. Extraction of natural dyes and determine their rate of degradation The natural dyes from leaves, flowers, fruits, seeds are utilized for colouring of textile. The extracted natural dye was characterised by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and UV-VIS spectroscopy. Colour fading of a dye material is arises due to the degradation of dye which results in different degrees of loss of intact dye molecules. Investigate the factors that influence the degradation of dyes, such as pH, concentration, temperature, intensity of light, presence of oxidants and BET-surface area.
